Council Members

Cookstown District Council is one of 26 local authorities in Northern Ireland. It covers an area of 235 sq miles and has a current population of over 32,500.

The Council is comprised of 16 elected representatives. Local elections are held every four years on a Proportional Representation System. The Chairman and Vice Chairman are elected on an annual basis at the Annual General Meeting in June. Membership of standing committees is also agreed at this meeting.

As with other local Authorities the Council has a range of consultative and representative roles.

The district is split into three wards; Drum Manor, Ballinderry and Cookstown Central.
