Procedures on Dog Fouling:

  • Following a complaint from a resident, the Enforcement Officer will visit the area.
  • I f the complainant has given their name and address then they will be visited to find out more information with regards to the complaint.
  • The Enforcement Officer will check the area for the presence of Council signs, which highlight the penalty i.e. £2500
  • If the Enforcement Officer witnesses a dog fouling in a public place, the owner, if known, will be liable to a £50 Fixed Penalty Fine and/or possible prosecution.
  • Where a member of the public is reluctant to give a written statement, a warning/advisory letter can be sent to the offender.
