(LITTER NORTHERN IRELAND) ORDER 1994

Everyone is aware of the unsightliness of litter on our streets and public roadways.
The Council spends hundreds of thousands of pounds each year cleaning our streets and public places and removing deposited litter.
Under the above Order, it is an offence to deposit any waste material so as to cause litter. The Council carries out regular monitoring programmes to identify and apprehend litter offenders. If you are found dropping litter or dog foul you may be issued with a Fixed Penalty (fine) of £50.00, or fined £500 in Court. It is in everyone's interest to ensure they don't become another statistic.
As part of the Education Programme, the Environmental Health Department runs regular Education Seminars, in conjunction with local primary schools and associated organisations, to ensure that all children are aware of the 'Don't Litter' message.
