Under the above legislation the Council is required to administer the Regulations covering the establishment and operation of Public Lotteries.

Public Lotteries are those schemes whereby tickets are sold to the general public, to enable a registered Society to generate income for their respective cause.

Private Lotteries are lotteries which are established within a private club and where the tickets are sold solely to the members of that organisation. This form of lottery does not require to be registered with the District Council.

To register, a Society must:-

(a) apply to the Council for registration, setting out the purposes for which the Society is established and conducted.

(b) provide any other details which are required by completing the application form

(c) attach a copy of the proposed lottery scheme and how it is proposed to be run.

(d) copy the application to the local Police District Commander.
