Information Communication and Technology in the Council

The ICT strategy is designed to provide flexible high level focus on

Web & Business on line.

Promote the web for  online service and payment  of goods and services  such as technical services commercial charging, fees and debtor payments by the customer.

 Improve the options available to do business at a time which suits the customer online with lower  impact on council resources.

Website redesign for multiple sites:Cookstown.gov.uk, Mid Ulster Sports Arena, Burnavon and the member’s intranet. Integration of social network channels into same.

Efficiency & Smarter working

Improve and Update staff skills and knowledge.

Use project management principles in implementing new solutions and systems.

Consolidate on the investment made in Virtual & San technologies to reduce running and expansion costs to council for ICT support and services through better utilisation of physical resources.

Developing sound business cases for implementing new ICT systems

Providing systems fit for purpose and requirements as opposed to want.

Improved file  search  and retrieval and minutes systems. Asset management & inspection systems solutions . Explore opportunities to collaborate and procure collectively

Improve transactional facilities within corporate services and  

Examine alternative means of working including examining the viability and appetite for at home working.

Assess the use of smart devices for certain services.

Rolling refresh desktop computers.

Security

Higher levels of security and encryption.

Tighter passwords and policies. In essence implementing an ISMS ( Information Security Management System).More tracking of changes ,monitoring and auditing of ICT resources where possible. Progression towards ISO 27000 series compliance and associated policies .

Continue Penetration testing and Carry out Internal Gap Security Analysis

Test business continuity, develop faster recovery from incidents  and higher levels of resilience for systems and networks.

Improve the update, frequency and quality of update to web site and social media via our content management using existing resources
