The Conucil provides a burial service in the Cookstown accessible by all religious denominations. in Cookstown Cemetery. There are certain rules and regulations ( Cemetery Rules to be adhered to in relations to graves , burials headstones etc.
Services provided include grass cutting, hedge cutting, weed spraying and maintenance of areas such as the car parks. The Council also maintain the old cemeteries at Kildress, Donaghrisk, Churchill, Donaghendry, Ballyclog, Eglish, Ballyeglish, Ardboe, Grange, Derryloran and Moneymore.

3. Approval fee for Erection of Headstone, Memorial etc. £40.00
The above charges apply to residents WITHIN the Cookstown District Council area.
In cases of non-residents the charges are doubled although the double charge shall not apply to persons who were residents of the District in former years.

Forthill (New Cemetery) Protestant B23 onwards – Headstone only no Base or Surround
Catholic N32 onwards - Headstone only no Base or Surround
Prior to commencement of ANY structural work Contractors must get planning approval and submit proof of Public (value £1 million) and Employers (if applicable) Liability Insurance.
Sub base will only be permitted where there is a fall in the ground – on level ground a headstone and base only are allowed.
The fall in the ground can only be corrected by using ONE of the following:-
Any sub base MUST be cast or cut to suit the fall in the ground - cutting into the existing strip foundation is not permitted.
If sub base is to be solid granite or faced with granite strips these must be the same colour as the headstone and base.
Headstone, base and sub base (if required) must be erected and dowelled on site.
The foundation, headstone and plinth must be drilled to a minimum of 13 cm in depth and dowelled together with at least 2 No. 10 mm galvanised steel bars. The headstone must also be attached to the plinth with a suitable anti-mould resin.
Failure to adhere to regulations may result in instruction to remedy/remove headstone.
