Council Delegation Meets Minister Arlene Foster about Broadband Problems

A delegation from Cookstown District Council travelled to Belfast recently to meet with Enterprise Minister, Mrs Arlene Foster, MLA, to discuss a range of telecoms deficiencies in the Cookstown District.

The delegation included Councillor Sean Clarke, Council Chairman, Councillor Sam Glasgow, Councillor Ian McCrea, MLA and Councillor James McGarvey, together with Council Officers, Adrian McCreesh, Director of Development, and Fiona McKeoan, Economic Development Manager.  Accompanying the Council representatives were a number of rural business representatives, namely Mr Ronald Turkington, Teksystems, Mr Eugene Carson, Ardboe Coldstore and Mr Michael McCrory (Transoft International).

Telecommunications Report for the Western Sub Region

The Western Economic Strategy Team (WEST), comprising the Councils of Cookstown, Dungannon & South Tyrone, Fermanagh, Omagh and Strabane, commissioned consultants Analysys Mason to conduct research into the telecommunications provision in the Western sub-region of Northern Ireland. 

A comprehensive report was produced which provides a detailed assessment of existing telecommunications infrastructure provision and deficiencies within the Western sub-region.  It further highlights the future telecommunication requirements for the region together with an assessment of the required infrastructural investment.  To view a copy of the full report or executive summary, please click on the links below:-
