The Landscape Partnership Scheme is a Heritage Lottery Fund programme which aims to conserve countryside that has a distinctive landscape character and is recognised and valued by local people. The Sperrins Gateway Landscape Partnership Scheme, currently in the development phase, to engage with the local community, landowners, schools and other relevant organisations in order to produce a Landscape Conservation Action Plan to be submitted to the Heritage Lottery Fund for Stage Two Implementation funding.
The Sperrins Gateway area is situated in the east Sperrins region, it includes the Upper Moyola Valley and Slieve Gallion landscapes and includes the Plantation towns of Moneymore and Draperstown with over half of the area within the Sperrins Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. We are aiming to make this beautiful area more accessible so that everyone can enjoy it, making sure that the cultural, natural and built heritage are all cared for and ensure that they will be safeguarded for future generations and to educate the community as to why this piece of landscape is so unique.
This is a great chance for the local people to be involved in the development of this scheme, and we want to put to good use the community’s skills and knowledge of the local landscape. Everyone is welcome to attend and refreshments will be provided. For more information regarding the meetings or the project please feel free to contact the Community Engagement Officer, Melissa Hogg on 028 8674 7383.

The Landscape Partnership Scheme (LPS) is a Heritage Lottery Fund programme which aims to conserve countryside that has a distinctive landscape character and is recognised and valued by local people.
This development phase is funded by Heritage Lottery Fund, the Drapers’ Company, Magherafelt & Cookstown District Councils.
The Sperrins Gateway Landscape Partnership Scheme is developing a variety of projects that will make sure the assets of our landscape, including the natural, cultural and built heritage are well cared for and safeguarded for future generations. We are working with different partners- local groups, landowners and interested parties to conserve the landscape, wildlife, heritage skills, townlands and the rich heritage of the Upper Moyola Valley and Slieve Gallion character areas and encourage communities to learn about, enjoy and celebrate their local area.
