Amenity Sites

Cookstown District Council maintains two Civic Amenity Sites for the disposal of domestic and commercial waste at Cookstown and Moneymore.

The Civic Amenity Site at Cookstown is situated just off Molesworth Street and the opening hours are:

Mon - Fri     8:00am to 8.30pm                        Amenity Sites (click for map)

Sat              9.30am to 7:00pm 

Moneymore Civic Amenity Site is situated just off the Moneyhaw Road and its opening hours are:

The following items are accepted (free of charge for householders) at both Amenity Sites:

Large Appliances  including cookers, dishwashers, washing machines, clothes dryers, electric stoves, electric hot plates, microwaves, electric heaters and radiators, electric fans and exhaust ventilation equipment

Batteries All household batteries including pencil batteries from toys and other electrical goods

Food & Drink cans Please ensure cans are empty and clean

Car Batteries All lead acid batteries including batteries from lorries, tractors and lawnmowers.

Cardboard All types of large and small cardboard boxes.

TVs & Monitors All TVs and monitors with CRT's (cathode ray tubes).

Engine Oil and used cooking oil

Flo Tubes please detach these from the electrical goods (sun beds etc).  Includes straight and compact fluorescent tubes, high intensity discharge lamps but NOT normal household light bulbs.

Fridges & freezers including air conditioner appliances

Glass clear glass, brown glass, green glass, other coloured glass.

Garden waste accepted free of charge from householders.

Paper including telephone directories and shredded paper

Plastic Bottles PET and HDPE type plastic bottles.

Scrap Metal All types and grades of scrap metal.

Small Appliances including vacuum cleaners, sewing machines, irons, toasters, fryers, hair dryers, clocks and watches, computers, phones, mobile phones, games consoles, radios, DVD and video recorders, DIY tools, electrical toys, monitoring equipment such as heat detectors. 

Textiles including clothing and shoes.

Timber Accepted free of charge from householders
