Amenity Sites
Cookstown District Council maintains two Civic Amenity Sites for the disposal of domestic and commercial waste at Cookstown and Moneymore.
The Civic Amenity Site at Cookstown is situated just off Molesworth Street and the opening hours are:
Mon - Fri 8:00am to 8.30pm Amenity Sites (click for map)
Sat 9.30am to 7:00pm
Moneymore Civic Amenity Site is situated just off the Moneyhaw Road and its opening hours are:
Summer Winter (click for map)
Mon - Fri 8:00am to 8:30pm Mon - Fri 8:00am to 6:00pm
Sat 9:30am to 7:00pm Sat 8:30am to 6:00pm
The following items are accepted (free of charge for householders) at both Amenity Sites:
including cookers, dishwashers, washing machines, clothes dryers, electric stoves, electric hot plates, microwaves, electric heaters and radiators, electric fans and exhaust ventilation equipment
All household batteries including pencil batteries from toys and other electrical goods
Please ensure cans are empty and clean
All lead acid batteries including batteries from lorries, tractors and lawnmowers.
All types of large and small cardboard boxes.
All TVs and monitors with CRT's (cathode ray tubes).
and used cooking oil
please detach these from the electrical goods (sun beds etc). Includes straight and compact fluorescent tubes, high intensity discharge lamps but NOT normal household light bulbs.
including air conditioner appliances
clear glass, brown glass, green glass, other coloured glass.
accepted free of charge from householders.
including telephone directories and shredded paper
PET and HDPE type plastic bottles.
All types and grades of scrap metal.
including vacuum cleaners, sewing machines, irons, toasters, fryers, hair dryers, clocks and watches, computers, phones, mobile phones, games consoles, radios, DVD and video recorders, DIY tools, electrical toys, monitoring equipment such as heat detectors.
including clothing and shoes.
