Blue Bin Scheme

Blue bins have been provided to all areas across the district for the collection of dry- recyclables - cardboard, paper, plastic bottles and metal cans which are placed into your blue bin and are then taken to a material recovery facility where they are separated and sent for recycling.

45 tonnes of recyclable materials are collected from blue bins each week helping to reduce the amount of waste ending up in landfill sites.

Please ensure only the correct items are placed into your blue bin.

Blue bins contaminated with unsuitable waste will NOT be emptied.

BLUE RECYCLING BINS WHICH WERE ISSUED BEFORE 1st NOVEMBER 2009 SHOULD NOT BE REMOVED FROM THAT ADDRESS WHEN MOVING FROM OR VACATING THE PREMISES.

Brown Bin Scheme

Brown bins are now in use through several built-up areas of the district including:

  • Cookstown Town
  • Moneymore
  • Pomeroy
  • Ballyronan
  • Coagh

Organic garden waste such as grass cuttings and leaves etc are collected for composting

Materials not suitable for composting should NOT be placed into your brown bin.

Brown bins are emptied fortnightly from April to October and monthly from November to March inclusive.  

Brown bins contaminated with unsuitable waste will NOT be emptied.

BROWN BINS ARE ISSUED TO EACH HOUSE AND SHOULD NOT BE REMOVED FROM THAT ADDRESS WHEN VACATING OR MOVING FROM THE PROPERTY.
