Magheraglass Landfill Site

Magheraglass Landfill Site, located approximately 6 miles west of Cookstown, Co. Tyrone, is a fully engineered landfill site opened in 1997 with an estimated life span of 25 years.  The site accepts non-hazardous waste for disposal as well as recyclables for waste transfer to other facilities.  Other facilities on-site include the leachate treatment plant and, within the next year, a landfill gas extraction system, flare and gas engine.  The site handles approximately 35,000 tonnes of waste per year.

The facility is free to use for all Cookstown District residents, however, commercial users must set up an account prior to coming on-site.  Details of the pricing structure, account request forms and directions can be found here.

Opening Hours:

Mon - Thurs    8:00 am to 4:00 pm

Fri                   8:00 am to 3:30 pm 

Please note that for health and safety reasons there is no access to the tip face during break times (10:00am to 10:20am and 1:00pm to 1:20pm).
