Northern Ireland is set to take centre stage in 2012. With the opening of new and iconic visitor attractions and the hosting of some fantastic world class events Northern Ireland 2012 has been billed as ‘Our Time & Our Place’.
Never an area to miss out, Cookstown District is also planning great things in the tourism sector this year which is sure to attract some of the new and return visitors to Northern Ireland. As well as the opening of new visitor attractions, there are a range of new and exciting events planned, not to mention the return of a few family favourites. So get the diary out and make a note of some things not to be missed!
Its 2012 and Olympic fever is upon us. Cookstown District will see the Olympic Torch Parade hit its shores on the 7th June. As part of its 70 day journey the torch will touch down in Ballyronan Marina, with special events planned to mark this iconic event. Early June will also see a range of Diamond Jubilee Events taking place across the District to mark the Queens sixty years on the throne.
This is just a brief snapshot of what there is to offer. Throughout Spring & Summer of 2012, there is a brilliant range of events to suit all the family. Sporting events include; Cookstown Half Marathon, Lap the Lough, Lough Neagh Triathlon and the Paralympic Games to name just a few. Ifs its Heritage, Arts & Culture your after, then look no further than the Mid-Ulster Vintage Vehicle Rally, Hidden Heritage Family Events, Lissan House Garden Festival or even a visit to one of the great events or workshops taking place in the Burnavon.
